Cosplay Tutorial: Jessica from True Blood

Image
This is another super easy cosplay that once you have a couple key items, you can throw together in literally no time. Those are my favorites in case you haven't picked up on that. I did this one for ConDFW since I wanted something cute but comfy and low key. If you want proof, check out my page at Wilde Cosplay, where I try to share everything I work on.

The standard black shorts came from the clearance rack of Old Navy, and they are paired with my Airwalks because I am too cheap to wear real Converse. The bottle of True Blood we've had at the house for enough years that it will never be something a human drinks because it would probably kill them. But it makes a great photo prop. The order pad came from a pretend kit that I've had since I was a kid. Yes, really. Yes, I still have it. It's not essential, just fun to have. I also threw on a red flannel shirt (you'll recognize it from my Amy Pond cosplay) for warmth in some of the cooler Con rooms.
The shirt and ap…

When did you open your shop, and what inspired you to start selling?
I first opened my Storenvy shop in September of 2013 and opened my Etsy shop in October of 2013.

I never heard of Etsy or Storenvy before and I came across both sites and the thought of selling online intrigued me. I love to craft and thought people might be interested in what I love to make. So I started to look into how to start my own online business.

What is your current favorite item in your shop? Why?
Currently I would have to say that one of my favorites is my Chihuahua Necklace. I just really love how the yellow colour of it turned out, and it's just super cute.

What is your favorite quote? One of my favorite quotes is "If you can't stop thinking about it, don't stop working for it."

When did you open your shop, and what inspired you to start selling?
In September 2012; I wanted to do more than just create and store the things I was enjoying making.

What is your current favorite item in your shop? Why?
The blue and yellow rose set because it's so pretty and dainty. Plus, blue is one of my favorite colors. :)

Craft Sale #2: The Re-Craftening

Image
Yesterday I strapped on my big girl boots (okay, it was Airwalks) and headed out to my second ever in person craft show. Thankfully I had the support of my sister driving me and all my junk out there in her SUV and my husband helping me set up (I am seriously the WORST about being polite when I'm stressed and trying to get things done) and man the table throughout the day.

The sale in question was the Valentine's Sale at the TWU Student Union. It'd hoped to be part of the Christmas sale, but I ended up taking care of my mom instead (infinitely more important, obviously!). Thankfully, the Union was fantastic and just let me transfer my table fee to the next sale coming up.

I'm even more pleased to say that the sale went well. I didn't rake in huge profits, but I had some great interactions, and it always makes me smile when people enjoy what I make, even if they aren't able to buy it. Hopefully I'll get to participate again in upcoming sales in the Union. …

When did you open your shop, and what inspired you to start selling?
I opened my shop in the summer of 2013. One of my friends made pinback buttons and I wanted to try it out. Once I started I was hooked! I delighted in helping others get their geek on and make new friends with my buttons.

What is your current favorite item in your shop? Why?
My current favorite item is my Don't Worry I Speak Nerd design. It captures my life so well! I find myself speaking nerd on a regular basis. One of my art instructors calls me "The Dictionary". :) Here is where you can get it: http://littlehouseofcrafting.com/collections/246042-shop-all-buttons-magnets/products/11796852-dont-worry-i-speak-nerd-button-and-magnet!
