How long have you been selling online? What got you started?
2.5 years. I've always been a maker of things but after I moved to Chicago I decided I needed to do something for me since I didn't know anybody in this city aside from my husband and kids. Attending Wizard World Comic Con inspired me to open my own shop and make my art my job. I had always wanted to do that in some form so why wait?

What's your favorite thing to draw/make/create?
Lately, wrap bracelets are my ultimate favorite to make since I wear them a lot myself. Lip balms have to be a close second since it's fun watching shows or movies and pulling out concepts to create little art labels for and blending scents to represent.

What inspires you in your work? What makes you want to create or keeps you going when you're struggling?
As Shakespeare wrote, "All the world's a stage." There is always something out there that sparks imagination…

How long have you been selling online? What got you started?
We have been selling online since 2012. We kind of got started by accident. We wanted to make a special gift for a family member. His two loves at the time were shoes and Regular Time. So we combined them! I posted them on my personal Facebook page, and a few friends asked to buy some. It all just kind of came together.

What's your favorite thing to draw/make/create?
I obviously love to paint on shoes the very most. Wedding shoes are my most favorite to do. It's neat to paint out a love story.

What inspires you in your work? What makes you want to create or keeps you going when you're struggling?
My customers inspire me. Since everything we do is completely custom work, their stories are what inspire me the most. When I don't feel like painting anymore, I look back at reviews and pictures past customers have submitted.

What item in your shop are you most excited about? Wh…

How long have you been selling online? What got you started?
I started selling in April of 2011. It was a healing process for me to create something beautiful and focus on positive qualities for strong/loving women in my life both past and present. The first thing I made was a hairpin that I named after my grandmother who was always loving, giving and strong for raising 5 children and being a part of her grandchildrens' lives.

What's your favorite thing to draw/make/create?
I am so in love with my sewing machine right now! I have been making little stuffed animals for my new baby Illiana out of her clothing she's already grown out of.

What inspires you in your work? What makes you want to create or keeps you going when you're struggling?
My daughter Imogen inspires me when I am at a loss for what to do. I spend time with her and color or even just talk and she gives me ideas on what she would LOVE to see. She…

Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con Review

Image
(also: I Touched Chris Evans & Bruce Campbell) I'm leading with the highlight here. No, not just that I got to meet Chris Evans. And touch him (politely, sheesh, I have some boundaries) while he was wearing that sweater. It's that I got to spend a weekend with amazing friends (holla at Kevlar Unitard and Butter Butt Scotchie Pants in particular). We hung out, we spent time in New Orleans (a city I love and haven't visited since my honeymoon), and... okay, yes, I got to meet Chris Evans. He was quiet and sweet and very polite. Because they were telling us not to ask for hugs or anything, I didn't, though I regretted when I saw how many people had ignored those orders. lol Still, this is what happens when two introverts collide, I think, and it's a damn good picture anyway.

My best friend Ash (we've known each other since I was four) then surprised me and his girlfriend with a photo op with Bruce Campbell. Some of you may know that I've had mad love for …

Wilde Features Application 2016

Image
The application is easy, quick, and as soon as your feature is scheduled, I'll let you know (that's why I ask for the email). This opportunity is only open to those with handmade or art-centric shops. Not sure if you fit? Don't hesitate to hit me up on social media and ask!

The handmade field is wide and populated with a lot of talent. It can be hard to be seen. Features like this give buyers and even other sellers the opportunity to get to know the person behind the creations and see what drives you. There are set questions on the form, but if you want to say more? Go for it!
